PETALING JAYA, Feb 5 (Bernama)-- A news portal dedicated solely for consumers has been launched.

Named KONSUMERKINI it can be accessed at www.konsumerkini.net.my.

It is a brainchild of the Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations (Fomca) and aims to provide accurate consumerism information to the people.

Fomca president Datuk Marimuthu Nadason told a press conference after the launching of the portal and a thrifty spending campaign here today that it would help consumers keep abreast of developments on the consumer front, especially on issues like price hikes, food and fuel subsidies, cheating, environmental issues and others that affect the people's lives.

Former Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Shahrir Abdul Samad launched the portal and campaign.

Shahrir is also the Member of Parliament for Johor Baharu.
