PETALING JAYA: The Pan Malaysian Bus Operators Association calls for a National Transport Policy to improve the services of public transport.

In a joint press conference with the Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations (Fomca), its president Datuk Mohamad Ashfar Ali said the policy would serve as an indicator of how public transport operators should run their services.

"With the policy, we will know clearly what is expected from us. Passengers would also know what they can expect from us.

PETALING JAYA - Skim tawaran membeli kenderaan tanpa deposit yang didakwa antara punca ramai penjawat awam diisytiharkan muflis sebenarnya bertentangan dengan Akta Jual Beli 1967.

Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Gabungan Persatuan Pengguna Malaysia (FOMCA), Datuk Paul Selva Raj berkata, apa yang berlaku sekarang ramai wakil penjual kereta memanipulasikan perkara itu demi mengejar komisen.

QUICK TAKE: When fuel prices go down and prices of consumer goods and services don’t, the government is quick to point the finger at “errant traders and businesses” profiteering at the expense of consumers.

The business community, however, says that it is electricity and gas that forms the bulk of their costs.

The government has now decided to reduce electricity tariffs effective March 1 by about 5.8 per cent, which should effectively bring the prices of consumer goods down.

PETALING JAYA: Sejak 20 tahun lalu, dianggarkan lebih 20 syarikat pengusaha bas di negara ini gulung tikar kerana gagal menampung kos operasi yang meningkat sedangkan keuntungan mereka semakin menguncup.

Malah, kerugian jutaan ringgit dianggarkan berlaku kesan daripada penutupan syarikat berkenaan yang menjadi nadi penggerak ekonomi di sesuatu kawasan khususnya pedalaman.
