Logo with FontPETALING JAYA, 21 FEBRUARI 2017 – The Federation of Malaysian Consumers Association (FOMCA) together with the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co-operatives and Consumerism and the Ministry of Education is launching a Consumerims Contest in conjunction with Malaysia Consumer Day (HPM 2017).

This Consumerism Contest is an anual event that will mark it’s 16th consecutive year, which is organized by FOMCA with the support of other bodies like; Jabatan Keselamatan Jalan Raya Malaysia (JKJR), Institut Penyelidikan Keselamatan Jalan Raya Malaysia (MIROS), Standards Malaysia, Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Air Negara (SPAN) and many more.

There will be 12 different types of Contest this year, which are:

  1. Consumerism Essay Competition
  2. Poster Drawing Competition and A Poster Graphic Design Competition based on Consumerim
  3. Cartoon Drawing Competion based on Consumerism
  4. Blog based on Consumerism
  5. Consumerism Fotography Competition
  6. Consumerism Scrap Book Competition
  7. Speak Up Competition
  8. A Consumerism Colouring Contest
  9. Contest for the Shcool with the most number of Entries
  10. The HPM 2017 Teacher’s Award
  11. Myswitch (Energy Saving Competition)
  12. Allianz Finance

Overwhelming Entry response for the HPM Consumerism Contest

Anually, the HPM Consumerism Contest receive an overwhelming entry response. This competition was listed in the Malaysia Book of Records in the year 2010, 2012 and 2014. For 2016, FOMCA received around 120,561 number of entries for the competition and for 2015, FOMCA received 131,903.

Prizes up to a total of RM300,000 has been set aside for this contest. Each participant will receive an entry certificate, which is certified by the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE).

This year, once again organizing FOMCA "Competition Challenges" for the second time in cooperation with Allianz Malaysia Berhad. In this competition, students are required to plan their budget for a study tour group to send papers and videos are 8 minutes.

This contest is also seen to be a great platform for Malaysians at large, regardless of their age, to channel their views on consumer issues through the various conest that will be held.

Closing date for the contest and submission of Project

The closing date for the HPM Consumerism Contest will be on the 23rd of June 2017.
